Your LWEMS committee are a friendly bunch of outdoorsy people who run teaching sessions on practical aspects of pre-hospital, wilderness and emergency medicine for everyone from years one to five.
We're made up of current medical students elected by the society. Any member can nominate themselves to join the committee at the end of each year and vote in the committee elections.

Wilderness and Emergency Medicine covers a wide range of conditions. I like the challenge this presents. I also think that emergency med is super important for when we graduate, as we will often be the first person to respond in acute situations!

What attracts me to Emergency Medicine is the variety of people that you get to see and help everyday! From the simple conditions to the most sickest of patients, EM presents many challenges and often needs creative solutions to overcome them!

Emergency medicine is such an exciting and fast paced specialty, with so much variety! I also love hiking and became interested in wilderness & expedition medicine after attending an acute care conference. I’m so excited for all the events planned for this year!

Hi everyone! I'm Toli. I'm looking forward to being part of the team delivering some exciting events this year. I'm mainly interested in wilderness and pre-hospital medicine because I enjoy some adventurous hobbies such as diving and like to be prepared in case anything goes wrong!

Hi I’m James, I’m from Leeds and love a good hike in the Dales. Wilderness medicine really appeals to me as a way to practise medicine in my favourite setting - the outdoors! I can’t wait to get involved with all the exciting events LWEMS have planned this year and hope to get more phase 1 students interested in wilderness and emergency medicine.

I love with emergency medicine that you never know what you're going to have come through the doors, you get to use your knowledge of lots of different areas of medicine, and it suits my short attention span!

I'm Sam from Huddersfield, Yorkshire. I always like to be active and on my toes which is why I took an interest in emergency medicine in the first place. As a keen traveller, I'm really excited to get involved with the wilderness aspects of the society. Looking forward to meeting lots of new faces as well!

Hello everyone! I am excited to be part of the society for second year now. We are going to be expanding our events further this year (especially a lot more wilderness opportunities!) The events will be catered to students of all years so please do not hesitate to get involved!

I'm drawn to Emergency Med because of my greedy, indecisive nature. I'd really love to do a bit of everything and be a 'Jack of all trades', even if that means I'm master of none, so the variety in this area certainly appeals! I also love hiking in the hills, but as a true scouser, you'll find me at the back of the group having a natter, so any expedition newbies, come and join me at the back, for a coffee and a chat on our Wilderness Medicine events that we're so excited to put on this year!
