Your LWEMS committee are a friendly bunch of outdoorsy people who run teaching sessions on practical aspects of pre-hospital, wilderness and emergency medicine for everyone from years one to five.
We're made up of current medical students elected by the society. Any member can nominate themselves to join the committee at the end of each year and vote in the committee elections.

I really like the fast pace and acuteness of emergency medicine as well as it being very unpredictable, no two days are the same. I like the variety of emergency medicine as well - I prefer to know a bit about a lot.
I love the idea of working in EM (probably watching from watching too much Casualty) and I love the outdoors and trying new things. The LWEMS events allow you to develop loads of practical skills and build confidence with A to E assessments, perfect for early exposure to clinical years!
The adaptability of any medic working outside the usual clinical environment and the adventures wilderness medicine can provide are second to none. Whether it’s a casualty extraction or airway management, you’re always getting hands on!
I love that Emergency medicine allows you to explore a big variety!
What I love about emergency medicine is its unpredictability—no two days are ever the same. The blend of different specialties into one keeps things exciting.
I am definitely an adrenaline junkie!! So emergency situations are my jam!! I also love the outdoors and getting back in nature.
I like the high pressure and rapid work rate of EM, as well as being able to help people in their most dire moments
Within emergency medicine you see such a variety of different presentations, meeting people from all different walks of life! It’s also a speciality which isn’t confined to a hospital setting, a feature which really appeals to me!
I like the fast paced environment that really tests your skills and knowledge! EM requires you to pull lots of ideas together and get hands on, which is always exciting.
I love the outdoors and enjoy the fast pace environment of emergency medicine!
